STORAGE

Square silos

Square silos offer up to 25% more storage capacity than round silos with the same floor area, making them the optimal solution for facilities where space is at a premium. Their rectangular cross-section makes the most of every available square meter, without the dead angles typical of cylindrical bins.

They are the usual choice for the storage of animal feed, cereals, flours, pellets and other dry bulk materials both as process silos and for finished product prior to shipment.

Features

Zigzag folded sheet metal

Construction and structure

The body of our square silos is made of folded sheet metal in zigzag profile with 60° inclination, a geometry that stiffens the assembly without the need for additional reinforcements and resists the lateral pressure of the stored material. The upper part integrates inspection hatches, maintenance accesses and suction filters, facilitating inspection and cleaning tasks without interrupting production.

Adaptable modular system

Modular design and plant integration

The modular construction of our square silos allows the number of cells and dimensions to be configured according to the needs of each plant, and facilitates future expansions without the need to modify the existing structure. The assembly can be integrated directly into the production process, eliminating the need for a separate storage building and reducing the length of transport circuits.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of a square silo versus a round silo?

Square silos are placed side by side sharing walls, eliminating the dead space inevitable with cylindrical geometry. This translates into up to 25–40% more capacity on the same footprint, while also reducing overall construction costs.

What products can be stored?

Any free-flowing dry bulk: feed, cereals, flours and granules. Both in process storage and for finished product prior to shipment.

What sheet thickness is used and why the zigzag profile?

The cells are manufactured with 3 and 4 mm sheets. The 60° zigzag profile stiffens the wall and makes it resistant to the lateral pressure of the material, without external reinforcements that make the assembly more expensive or difficult to clean.

How do the hoppers ensure complete discharge?

The inclination of the walls is calculated according to the flowability of each product, and the edges are chamfered to eliminate accumulation areas. In each cycle, the cell is completely emptied, avoiding residues that contaminate the next batch.

Can the silo be integrated into the building structure?

Yes, the modular design allows the silo to be part of the building structure itself, sharing enclosures and stairs with the building. This reduces material and civil works costs, and is especially advantageous when planned from the initial design phase.

How are the cells assembled?

The cells are joined by bolted sections forming a monobloc assembly, which ensures the system's tightness and simplifies on-site installation.
